World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has ended his 2026 season because of a knee injury. The Italian said he made the decision with his doctors and will undergo treatment and rehabilitation. He will miss the remaining tournaments, including the ATP Finals in Turin.
Sinner last played on July 12, when he defeated Alexander Zverev in the Wimbledon final. He later withdrew from the US Open and has not returned to competition. He said he now wants to focus on his long-term health and be ready for the next season.
“The doctors and I decided that I need treatment for my knee, which means my 2026 season is over,” Sinner said. He added that he would do everything possible to return fully fit. The ATP and Sky Sports have also reported that the decision is related to a right-knee problem that has troubled him since Wimbledon.
Sinner is 25. His early end to the season rules him out of the remaining events on the calendar and the year-end tournament in Turin. He did not give a timetable for his return, saying recovery is his priority.
