Cockroach Janta Party leaders called for a mass demonstration amid a voter-roll dispute. Police said about 120 people were detained at a Delhi protest.
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke called for a protest on October 10 and challenged Home Minister Amit Shah to say how many people the authorities planned to detain. Dipke claimed on X that “the entire country” would take to the streets. That was the party’s assertion, not a verified estimate of turnout.
The CJP urged citizens to organise what it called the largest protest amid a dispute over the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls and demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police sources said about 120 people were detained in connection with Sunday’s protest in Delhi.
Another CJP leader, Saurav Das, wrote on X that the government planned to arrest him, Dipke, Ashutosh Ranka, Ratna Singh and other party figures. The report did not independently confirm the alleged plan. Das said arrests would not suppress the youth-led movement and urged supporters to continue protesting even if organisers were detained.
Das said party members were prepared to face arrest or other consequences and called on people across India to join protests from October 10. The report did not say whether organisers had secured permission or how the authorities responded.
