About 1,200 take part in wildlife conservation run at Vandalur

The five-kilometre Wildlife Trail Run 2026 was held at Arignar Anna Zoological Park as part of Wildlife Week.

About 1,200 people took part in the Wildlife Trail Run 2026 organised by Arignar Anna Zoological Park at Vandalur on Sunday, October 4. Kakarla Usha, Additional Chief Secretary for Environment, Climate Change and Forests, flagged it off with senior Forest Department officials and zoo director Ritto Cyriac.

Participants pledged to protect wildlife before the start. The run had four categories. Male and female winners received trophies and cash prizes from ₹3,000 to ₹15,000. Organisers said the event aimed to build appreciation of nature and biodiversity and encourage public participation in conservation.
