Putin says upbringing shapes knowledge and ties to family and country

At a Kremlin Teachers’ Day ceremony, the president honoured mentors of participants in Russia’s military campaign and spoke with them afterward.

On Monday, October 5, Vladimir Putin presented state awards in the Kremlin to teachers who mentor participants in Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine. After the ceremony, he spoke with them informally and congratulated them on Teachers’ Day.

Putin recalled discussing education and upbringing with Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. “You can teach someone, which is just one step. Upbringing is the most important thing. Everything is built on that foundation: knowledge and one’s attitude to life, country, parents, loved ones and children,” he said. The teachers remarked that none of them had ever had a Teachers’ Day like this one.
