A military court convicted them of two terrorist attacks and laundering cryptocurrency received for the arson.
A military court in Russia’s Primorye region sentenced two residents to eight and eight and a half years in a general-regime penal colony for setting fire to railway signal cabinets. Both were minors when the offences were committed.
The Pacific Fleet Military Court said the teenagers had been paid to set fire to eight signal cabinets on the Far Eastern Railway. The transport prosecutor’s office previously said their handler paid them 260,000 roubles, which they cashed out through virtual cryptocurrency accounts. Damage exceeded 770,000 roubles.
The court found them guilty of two terrorist acts and laundering the cryptocurrency they received. The sentences were eight years and eight years and six months in prison, the court said.
