Yogi Adityanath announced the district’s new name and cited 112 projects worth more than ₹1,340 crore.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that Bhadohi district will be renamed Sant Ravidas Nagar Bhadohi. He made the announcement at an event in the district on Sunday, saying the new name honours the medieval saint Ravidas.

At the same event, Adityanath inaugurated or laid foundation stones for 112 projects worth more than ₹1,340 crore. He said the district’s carpet industry was gaining access to technology, design and markets. The state has included Bhadohi carpets in its One District-One Product (ODOP) programme, intended to help artisans promote local goods.

Adityanath also said better connectivity and security were helping producers reach global markets. His criticism of previous administrations and assessment of changes in the state formed part of his speech. The report did not provide independent implementation figures for the projects he cited.
