Ukraine’s metal ore output falls 51.4% year on year in August

The country produced 48.6% of the volume recorded in August 2025, according to official statistics cited by RIA Novosti.

Ukraine’s metal ore production fell 51.4% year on year in August 2026, RIA Novosti reported, citing the country’s State Statistics Service. Output was 48.6% of the August 2025 level.

Exports of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and related products also dropped 48.1% year on year in August, according to National Bank of Ukraine data reviewed by RIA Novosti.

The report also cited Metinvest executive Oleksandr Vodoviz as telling the Financial Times that Ukraine had been left without a steel industry. Reuters, citing the Ukrainian Metallurgists’ Federation, separately reported a week-long halt to steel production in September.
