Yanina Latorre says she knew nothing of alleged Messi ticket resale

The Argentine host says her mother and sister offered tickets to Lionel Messi’s farewell match above the AFA’s set prices. She condemned resale and denied involvement.

Argentine television host Yanina Latorre said she was unaware of online offers for tickets to Lionel Messi’s farewell match for the national team. La Nación reported that her mother, Dora Caamaño, and sister, Maite Arruza, had offered tickets for Tuesday’s game at the Monumental stadium at prices above those set by the Argentine Football Association (AFA).

Speaking on her radio programme on Monday, Latorre said she found out about the listings on social media over the weekend. She denied any involvement and said she had faced criticism directed at her, her husband Diego Latorre and their children. She said she initially dismissed the posts while playing paddle tennis, then saw the controversy grow.

Latorre said her sister had used the Instagram account of their 86-year-old mother and created a mess. She also said her mother had given her sister access to the account without understanding what would happen. Latorre said she had already spoken with her sister, was furious and did not know whether their relationship could be repaired.

She said she would not defend her sister or help repair her public image, and described ticket resale as unacceptable. The previous week, she had publicly criticised the resale of AFA tickets. Latorre also clarified that her nephew does not work for the football association.
