The campaign, launched on September 24 during International Week of Deaf People, challenges rules that currently end the hearing-aid benefit at age 26. FIAPAS says the cutoff leaves adults without public support for devices that can affect access to education, work and everyday communication.
The group also wants eligibility extended to unilateral hearing loss, which it says is excluded even when a person has significant impairment in one ear. Four people — Alina, Dani, Olivia and Víctor — feature in the campaign, describing different lives shaped by access to hearing support.
FIAPAS is asking the government to make the benefit universal regardless of age or whether hearing loss affects one or both ears. It also calls for assistive listening equipment in public and private spaces so hearing-aid users can access spoken information.
