The collapse occurred in the 1900 block of North Wilcox Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department, sending earth and debris onto a residence at the base of the slope and threatening a multi‑unit building on Grace Avenue that sits above the slide.
Los Angeles firefighters arrived quickly, securing the area, stabilizing the remaining hillside material and evacuating the occupants of the Grace Avenue apartment building as a precaution. Crews are working to safely clear the structure and assess any further risk to nearby properties.
No injuries have been reported among residents or emergency personnel. The fire department said the cause of the slide is not yet known and investigators are examining the site to determine why the hillside gave way.
