A report published on October 5 says the instructions for Russia’s Allergarda allergy vaccine do not require dose changes for older adults, while treatment decisions should account for other health conditions.
The official instructions for Allergarda state that use of the Russian allergy vaccine is not restricted solely because a patient is older. They also say no dose adjustment is required for older adults, while directing clinicians to consider coexisting conditions when deciding whether to prescribe it.
Russia’s Health Ministry previously announced registration of Allergarda for the prevention and treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis. Veronika Skvortsova, head of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency, said the product was expected to enter civilian circulation in October.
The leaflet’s age guidance does not mean the vaccine is suitable for every older person without an individual assessment. Patients should discuss their diagnosis, other health conditions and existing medicines with a clinician before treatment.
