Ambon recorded an ozone concentration of 178 micrograms per cubic metre, above the cited 150-microgram standard, prompting the city to warn residents against open burning.
Ambon’s Environmental and Waste Management Agency reported an ozone reading of 178 micrograms per cubic metre, above the cited standard of 150 micrograms per cubic metre. The city has prohibited residents from burning rubbish in the open, saying it could worsen air quality.
ANTARA’s regional report said the measurement was taken on October 3. A separate report said the agency’s head, Apries B. Gasperzs, warned that open burning of rubbish, land, yards or agricultural residue can add to pollution.
