Axios reports text message at centre of Grenell inquiry
The White House is examining a message in which Richard Grenell allegedly offered Turkish businessman Turhan Mildon access to Donald Trump and his administration, Axios reported. Grenell denies the allegations.
According to the outlet, the message was submitted as evidence in an inquiry ordered by the president. The dispute concerns a proposed donation to the Kennedy Center, which Grenell led.
Mildon says he transferred 17.6 million dollars to Texas Armament & Technology at Grenell's direction. He says part was intended for a Congo deal and nearly 6 million dollars for the Kennedy Center.
Mildon's wife, former Trump lawyer Alina Habba, told the president that the intended donation had not reached the centre, Axios reported.
The outlet said Trump and White House counsel Will Scharf discussed the allegations with Grenell, who rejected them.
