BCCI Centre of Excellence rehabilitated 32 India men’s team players

The BCCI Centre of Excellence treated 32 men’s team players for injuries between April 2025 and March 2026, including 20 centrally contracted players, the Times of India reported.

The Centre of Excellence annual report said the group also included 12 targeted-category and India A players. Overall, the BCCI-CoE Sports Science and Medicine team managed injuries among 68 players across genders. Most cases involved soft tissue, according to the report. One example cited was Rishabh Pant’s rehabilitation after a foot fracture sustained during a Test in Manchester in July 2025.

The Times of India said the centre’s actual expenditure in the previous financial year was 92 crore rupees, while its projected spending for 2026–27 reached 127 crore. The report also said 37 players used a training-block programme, while 15 of 57 budgeted camps and tournaments did not take place.

In September, the BCCI advertised the post of head of sports science and medicine. The newspaper reported that the position had remained vacant since Nitin Patel left in March 2025 and described coordination difficulties between the centre’s medical staff and the national team. Those details about staffing and communication are attributed to the Times of India and its sources.
