Former US president Joe Biden brought his green 1967 Chevrolet Corvette to a car show in Newport, Rhode Island. A photograph posted by his daughter Ashley on social media shows him in the car with comedian Jay Leno.
The car featured in coverage of the 2023 classified-documents controversy. Classified material was found at Biden’s Washington think-tank office, and some papers were stored in the garage of his home in Wilmington, Delaware. An image of the Corvette outside the garage, where boxes of papers could be seen through an open door, was discussed online. The papers were described as possibly classified.
The special counsel who investigated the handling of the documents did not bring charges against the former president. In explaining the decision, the prosecutor attributed the episode to Biden’s memory problems rather than deliberate misconduct.
