
The bestselling novelist sold more than 300 million books. His final novel is due out this week.
British author Jeffrey Archer has died at the age of 86, his publisher HarperCollins announced. Archer died at home on Monday, October 5, between writing sessions, according to the publisher, ANSA and the BBC reported.
Archer wrote the Clifton Chronicles and the novel Kane and Abel. His books sold more than 300 million copies over a career spanning more than five decades, according to his publisher. His final novel, Adam and Eve, is due to be released this week.
Before becoming a bestselling novelist, Archer was a Conservative member of Parliament and later a member of the House of Lords. In 2001, he was sentenced to four years in prison for perjury after being convicted of lying during a libel case against the Daily Star that began in 1987. He was released in 2003 and remained in the Lords until retiring in 2024.
