Cargo ship grounds near Yantarny with no injuries reported

A foreign cargo ship ran aground in the Baltic Sea near Yantarny's beach in Kaliningrad Region. Transport prosecutors reported no injuries or oil spill on October 9.
The Kaliningrad transport prosecutor's office is establishing the circumstances. Adverse weather was identified as the preliminary cause, rather than a final investigative finding.
RIA Novosti reported that the regional government said the crew was safe and did not need evacuation. The sailors decided to remain aboard while waiting for better weather and weaker winds.
Vzglyad, citing the regional emergency service, reported that rescuers found no damage to the ship and that the crew had not requested assistance.
Prosecutors did not specify whether the ship had been refloated. Early reports of its departure from Russian waters were followed by reports of grounding. At the time of the prosecutor's statement, crew safety and the absence of pollution were confirmed, but resolution of the incident was not.
