
Kerala will launch work on the Vaduthala railway overbridge and the Perandoor–Vaduthala bridge. The projects, funded at ₹91.89 crore and ₹34.24 crore respectively, are intended to improve connectivity and ease traffic in Ernakulam.
The inauguration of construction on the Vaduthala railway overbridge and the Perandoor–Vaduthala bridge is scheduled for October 7. Kerala Public Works Minister P.K. Basheer will preside over the launch. A government statement said the projects are expected to ease traffic congestion in Ernakulam.
The bridge across the Perandoor Canal will connect Vaduthala and Perandoor and allow travel from Container Road through Vaduthala to Kaloor while bypassing the congested National Highway. It has administrative approval for ₹34.24 crore. The structure will be 153.6 metres long and 11 metres wide, with a 7.5-metre carriageway and 1.5-metre footpaths on both sides. Completion is scheduled within two years. The statement said 34 cents of land in Perandoor and 55 cents in Vaduthala have been acquired.
The railway overbridge will be built at level crossing No. 69 in the Ernakulam constituency. It has a financial sanction of ₹91.89 crore and will measure 372.78 metres in length and 10.15 metres in width. The design includes a 7.5-metre carriageway and a 1.5-metre footpath on one side. Officials also expect it to reduce accident risks. The two projects are intended to improve links among Vaduthala, Perandoor, Pachalam, Chittoor and nearby areas.
