The Larnaca-to-Glasgow flight diverted after transmitting squawk code 7700, according to flight data reviewed by RIA Novosti.
A British EasyJet Airbus A320 flying from Larnaca to Glasgow declared a general emergency over the Netherlands and landed at Schiphol Airport near Amsterdam, RIA Novosti reported, citing flight data it reviewed.
Flight EZY3170 departed Cyprus at 10:16 p.m. Moscow time. After transmitting code 7700, the aircraft headed toward the Netherlands and landed at Schiphol at about 2:36 a.m. Moscow time.
Pilots use code 7700 to indicate a general in-flight emergency. The code alone does not identify a specific malfunction or mean that a crash is imminent. The agency’s report did not specify why the crew transmitted it.
