Meloni said she has no prejudices when sensible proposals are put forward. She added that she does not share what she described as the prejudices of the Italian opposition, which she said is almost asking people to pay the car tax in order to contest the government's measures.

The letter from Schlein, leader of the Democratic Party (Pd), concerns the use of 14 billion euros that Italy could employ by 2028 to accelerate the energy transition. Meloni was responding to a question about those proposals.

She said that if there are useful proposals, she will take them into consideration. She also said that from a very quick reading of the letter she was pleased to see an implicit recognition of the government's work.

Meloni's remarks came after her meeting with Store in Oslo.
