Broadway in San Antonio opens its production of Mrs. Doubtfire at the Majestic Theatre on Thursday, Sept. 17. The classic 1993 film is reimagined for the stage, with audiences encountering the beloved character created by actor and devoted father Daniel Hillard as she comes to life and teaches a timeless lesson about loving your family. Shows are scheduled through Sept. 20, and tickets are on sale now.
Also on Thursday, the Guadalupe Dance Company presents Celebrando Tradiciones: Corazón y Raíz at the Carver Community Cultural Center. The brand-new production honors Mexican dance through performance, showcasing original choreography and community storytelling inspired by the region. The company will be joined by Mariachi Azteca de América, and tickets to both shows are on sale now.
Friday, Sept. 18, brings the return of the high-rise 13th Floor Haunted House. Guests can test their mettle with two separate haunt attractions, Jason Universe: Survive the Night and Dose of Decay. The space also includes The Last Spinehelm: Zombie Shooting Range for those looking to sharpen their apocalyptic survival skills, and cocktails will be available on-site at the Copper Tavern. The haunted house is open through Nov. 8.
Also Friday, Go Rio presents a Beer Tasting Cruise along the River Walk. The cruise offers a scenic and relaxing experience with handcrafted brews in hand, and this week's theme is Oktoberfest on the River. Guests will sip a featured lineup of seasonal pours from Go Brewing, Karbach Brewing Company, Live Oak Brewing Company and Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. Tickets are available now.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, the Texas Paranormal Fest takes over Victoria's Black Swan Inn with oddities, stranger things and everything weird. The festival features live gallery readings, psychics and mediums, podcasters, paranormal investigators, speaker panels, vendor markets and opportunities to explore the mysterious and unexplained with members of the paranormal community from all corners of the Lone Star State. Festival guests will also have the chance to tour the haunted property during the event, and VIP and general admission tickets are available.
Also Saturday, Freeman Coliseum presents Sin Bandera in concert. The Mexican singing duo comes to San Antonio for an evening of serenades, best known for ballads and songs such as “Mientes Tan Bien” and “Que Lloro.” The performance is part of their Escenas U.S. Tour, with more information available on Ticketmaster.
The weekend schedule runs through Sunday, Sept. 20, when the Majestic Theatre run of Mrs. Doubtfire is set to conclude. Across the four days, the city's offerings move from Broadway comedy and Mexican dance to haunted attractions, River Walk brews, paranormal exploration and Latin pop balladry.
