Price appeared in only 24 offensive snaps in the Seahawks’ Week 1 win, accounting for less than half of the team’s total offensive workload. In those limited opportunities he recorded 10 carries for 52 yards and added two receptions for six yards.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Fleury explained that the cautious approach was intentional. “We were very deliberate about the reps that he was going to get, and how he was going to be used,” he said, noting that Price did not play in the preseason and that his limited usage had nothing to do with any physical issue – it was simply a matter of being a rookie.
The decision comes as Seattle adjusts to the loss of Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III, who departed in free agency, and the absence of Zach Charbonnet, who is sidelined for at least the first four games while recovering from an ACL tear suffered in the divisional‑round win over the 49ers. With those two backs unavailable, Price has become the team’s top tailback.
Fleury added that the Seahawks will continue to “bring him along and develop him the right way,” and that Price can expect a larger share of the workload in the upcoming matchup against the 1‑0 Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in Arizona.
