Valor Mortis, a souls‑like role‑playing game that casts players as a resurrected Napoleonic soldier wielding supernatural powers, is being developed by One More Level, the studio behind the cyber‑punk title Ghostrunner.
The game was first unveiled during the Opening Night Live showcase at Gamescom 2025, where the developer initially set the price at $49.99.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) released just under a month before the scheduled launch, One More Level confirmed the price has been lowered to $39.99, stating that the 20‑hour story offers “quality, fidelity, and playtime” comparable to full‑price titles, but that “this Fall is stacked” and consumers face high demand for both time and money.
The studio also announced that Valor Mortis will not be available for pre‑order, preferring players to purchase the game once they have a complete picture of its quality, creativity, and craft.
Alongside the price reduction, the developer introduced a Deluxe Edition priced at $59.99. The premium version will bundle a major story DLC planned for release in 2027 and will include a series of cosmetic packs that will be sold from now until the DLC launch.
Valor Mortis is slated for release on October 13, 2026 on PC via Steam, as well as on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.
The announcement comes as the fall gaming calendar fills with high‑profile releases, prompting One More Level to position its title as a value‑driven alternative for players seeking a deep, narrative‑driven experience.
