Head coach Kevin O’Connell confirmed at a Friday press conference that Wentz will be under center when the Vikings travel to Chicago for their second game of the season.
O’Connell said quarterback Kyler Murray has made good progress in the concussion protocol but has been ruled out after three limited practices, and he expects Murray to be cleared to play next week.
J.J. McCarthy will serve as the Vikings’ No. 2 quarterback after stepping in as the emergency third‑string option during the Week 1 victory over the Green Bay Packers.
Right tackle Brian O’Neil, who was sidelined with a knee injury, returned to practice on Friday and will be listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.
Wide receiver Jauan Jennings missed his third consecutive practice to attend to a personal matter and has been ruled out for the week.
