According to the family’s statement posted on social media, the girls were last seen around 20:10 on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, walking together with their father, Alessandro Costanza, after he had promised to return with bread for his other ten‑year‑old son.
Alessandro Costanza told police that there were no prior signs of trouble or any indication that the children might have left home voluntarily, and he has no knowledge of where they might have gone since that evening.
Early on September 19 the father went to the San Cataldo Carabinieri station to file a disappearance report, prompting investigators to open a formal inquiry and begin search operations in the surrounding area.
The Costanza family has issued an appeal on Facebook, urging anyone who may have seen the girls or who possesses any information to contact the Carabinieri or local police without delay.
The father emphasized that both children are well‑known and well‑liked in the community, attend catechism classes, and that Benedetta’s mobile phone is broken, which limits her ability to be reached. He also noted that he is caring for six children amid a separation from his former partner.
Searches continue throughout San Cataldo, with authorities coordinating volunteers and local resources while awaiting any tip that could lead to the girls’ whereabouts.
