Police responded to three separate domestic‑violence scenes on Saturday, each resulting in the death of a woman. The incidents occurred in Bondi, Mole Creek in the north of the state, and Kooringal, a suburb of Wagga Wagga.
At about 5:15 p.m. in Bondi, officers arrived at a Chambers Avenue apartment after a 90‑year‑old woman was found with serious stab wounds. She was treated by NSW Ambulance but died at the scene. A 47‑year‑old man, believed to have known the victim, was arrested, taken to Surry Hills police station and, on Sunday, charged with domestic‑violence murder. He was denied bail and will appear before a bail court later on Sunday.
Later that night, around 9:35 p.m., police were called to a domestic‑violence call at a property in Mole Creek. A 27‑year‑old man had broken into the home, attempted to steal a vehicle and assaulted the 74‑year‑old male homeowner. After the suspect was taken into custody, officers searched an adjoining property where they discovered the body of a woman in her 70s. Part of the property had been damaged by fire. A crime scene was established and the homicide squad has launched an investigation.
In Kooringal, a 23‑year‑old woman was found dead after being stabbed inside a home early on Saturday. Paramedics performed CPR but she could not be revived. An 18‑year‑old was initially arrested at the scene but later released without charge. Police subsequently searched for a second suspect who fled before emergency services arrived; he was apprehended at another Kooringal residence around 8:30 p.m. and taken to Wagga Wagga police station. The 31‑year‑old remains in custody.
All three victims are believed to have been known to their attackers, and detectives are treating each case as a separate domestic‑violence homicide. Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, and have highlighted support services for victims of family and domestic violence.
