Melissa Rivers, 58, who co‑hosted E!’s “Fashion Police” from 2015 to 2017 alongside her late mother Joan Rivers, told listeners Tuesday that a “big actress” approached her at a party to demand an explanation for the negative comments the show made about the actress’s dress.
Rivers declined to name the celebrity, but said the confrontation left her “just like, ‘I didn’t like your dress,’” and that the actress later appeared at another event with a new stylist, different hair color and what Rivers described as a “clearly had a facelift” look.
She also recounted an awkward encounter on a Los Angeles‑to‑New York flight shortly after filming an episode of “Fashion Police.” The same actress boarded the plane, and Rivers and her mother, who were reading the same book, anticipated the star’s reaction, noting they “knew her” and expected her to discover the criticism the next day.
Rivers defended the show’s approach, saying “Fashion Police” was “built for entertainment” and “built to be funny,” and argued that everyone critiques fashion in private, but the program made those opinions public. She also defended Giuliana Rancic’s 2015 viral remarks about Zendaya, emphasizing that the show’s format was meant to spark conversation.
Although “Fashion Police” ended nearly a decade ago, Rivers continues to weigh in on fashion, sharing Met Gala hot takes on Page Six Radio and recently calling miniskirts her “biggest fashion ick,” explaining that she finds them uncomfortable to watch when the wearer’s legs are constantly visible.
Rivers’ publicist did not respond to Page Six’s request for comment on the recent podcast revelations.
