Police said ten victims, including the pregnant woman, died at the scene, while four others were taken to hospital; one of those later succumbed to gunshot wounds.
SAPS investigators have not confirmed a motive, but they noted that a feud between rival groups could not be ruled out, suggesting a possible gang‑related dimension to the shooting.
A manhunt has been launched for the three suspects believed to have carried out the assault, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Some of the deceased were reportedly on crime‑intelligence watchlists for involvement in illegal activities, although police did not disclose further details.
The incident adds to South Africa’s already high levels of violent crime, with the country averaging about 60 murders a day, and comes as voters head toward municipal elections in November, where security concerns are a key issue.
