The franchise agreement, covering a six‑year period, is valued at ₹106.88 crore, with the inaugural season’s fee set at ₹12.21 crore, according to the MCA’s statement.
Industry sources note that the average annual franchise fee of ₹17.81 crore is more than 50 percent higher than the fees paid by the league’s existing eight franchises, underscoring the premium placed on the new market.
Adding a ninth team will expand the league’s footprint beyond its traditional Mumbai base, offering cricketers from the Navi Mumbai region a clearer pathway into the competition.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik called the expansion “a significant milestone in our vision to take the game closer to every corner of the Mumbai cricketing ecosystem,” and said the new franchise will broaden the league’s reach and create greater opportunities for emerging talent.
Rajdip Gupta, chairman of the T20 Mumbai League Governing Council, said the ninth franchise will help build a “stronger and more sustainable ecosystem” while delivering added value for stakeholders.
Aspect Sports, owned by Aspect Global Ventures, will operate the franchise. Executive chairperson Aksha Kamboj said the partnership is a step toward establishing a long‑term presence across multiple sporting disciplines.
