Addressing a gathering at the Azhikodan Raghavan memorial, Jayarajan warned that the chief minister’s perceived tilt toward the BJP could prompt the party to "take the Chief Minister along," and suggested that a segment of the Congress could also shift to the BJP in the state.
The ceremony marked the 54th death anniversary of a former CPI(M) state secretariat member, and was framed by Jayarajan as an attempt by opponents to weaken the party by targeting former chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, whom he described as the "strength of the CPI(M)."
The event was presided over by CPI(M) Kannur district secretary K.K. Ragesh, with additional remarks from state secretariat members M.V. Jayarajan and P. Jayarajan, underscoring the party’s resolve to resist what they view as a coordinated effort to erode its influence in Kerala.
While Jayarajan’s statements reflect intra‑state political tensions, they remain allegations; no concrete evidence has been presented to substantiate claims of a formal alignment between the chief minister and the BJP.
The remarks come ahead of upcoming electoral contests in Kerala, where the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front faces challenges from both the BJP and a potentially realigned Congress, making the accusations a notable addition to the state’s already charged political discourse.
