Rajashekhar was killed at about 4 a.m. on September 11 after the suspects hired his cab near the Swimming Pool Bus Stop beside the Task Force Office on SP Road in Secunderabad during the night of September 10‑11, telling him they were heading to Mumbai.
The trio allegedly diverted the cab to an isolated stretch near Rudraram, where they strangled the driver with a towel and dumped his body beside an under‑construction road overbridge before fleeing in the stolen car, registration TG 09 T 4759.
The stolen vehicle later suffered a mechanical failure near Kohir; the accused abandoned it near the Golden Dhaba and proceeded towards Zaheerabad. Police recovered the abandoned car and other material evidence, which helped trace the three suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Ghodake Rahul, 28, Suraj Shashikanth Tawade, 29, and Bamble Raju Ramachandra, 33, all residents of Maharashtra. Two additional accused remain at large.
The Patancheru police initially lodged a murder case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, charges of dacoity and criminal conspiracy were added, and the case was amended to include Sections 310, 103(1), 61(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS.
