In separate letters addressed to Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao and Telangana Cultural Sarathi chairperson G. V. Vennela Gaddar, Kumar requested that the event be organized under the aegis of the Department of Culture as an official state cultural program.
The proposed festivities are scheduled for October 17 in Dubai, with coordination entrusted to NRI Advisory Committee members Nangi Devender Reddy and Kottala Satyam Naragoud, together with Dubai‑based social worker Sutari Satyanarayana.
Organisers say the celebration will give the Telugu diaspora in the United Arab Emirates a platform to showcase Telangana’s Bathukamma traditions, helping preserve cultural heritage and maintain a connection with their homeland.
If the government approves the request, the festival would become one of the first official Telangana cultural events held abroad, potentially strengthening the state’s outreach to overseas communities and promoting tourism.
