The accused, identified as 28‑year‑old Abdul Jabir, a POP worker residing in Rajendra Nagar, Vivek Nagar, and 31‑year‑old Asgar Ali R., a lab technician from Neelasandra, Vivek Nagar, have no prior criminal records, according to the police.
Acting on a tip‑off received on September 19, officers registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and raided an open area near the service road of Domlur Ring Road, where the duo were allegedly selling banned substances. In the initial sweep, police seized 32 grams of amphetamine, a two‑wheeler believed to have been used in the offence, and two mobile phones.
During interrogation, the men claimed they bought the drugs at lower prices from unidentified sources outside the state and were reselling them at higher rates to the public, including college students, for profit. Based on their statements, investigators searched the suspects' apartment in Vivek Nagar and recovered an additional 118 grams of amphetamine along with 264 grams of suspected narcotic substances.
The total seized items have been estimated at a street value of ₹24 lakh, while their market value is placed around ₹43 lakh. Both suspects were produced before a court on September 20 and taken into police custody for five days. They appeared again on September 22, when the court ordered them to remain in judicial custody as the probe continues to identify the suppliers who allegedly provided the drugs.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities focusing on tracing the supply chain that fed the local drug market and assessing the broader impact of the bust on narcotics distribution in the area.
