Speaking to association members on Wednesday, Dr. Alva said private colleges must experiment with fresh educational practices and work together to address common problems, warning that failure to adapt could leave institutions lagging behind.
He highlighted that technology, skill‑based curricula, evolving job markets and rising student expectations are reshaping the sector, making it essential for colleges to modernise both academic and administrative systems.
The association represents roughly 130 private colleges affiliated with Mangalore University, many of which are grappling with academic, administrative and infrastructure challenges, according to Alva’s remarks.
To foster coordinated action, Alva proposed consolidating college managements on a single platform for regular dialogue and problem‑solving, and announced that a one‑day state‑level symposium will be held in January to discuss academic cooperation, administrative issues and the major challenges facing private colleges.
The meeting also confirmed that the current office‑bearers will continue for another year, with vice‑president Dinesh Kumar Alva, secretary Sripathi Kalluraya, treasurer T. Ramesh and other officials retaining their positions.
