The company began distributing Android 17 in August, and while a handful of models have already received the stable version, the upgrade is still being phased in across its lineup.
Android 17 brings a refreshed Quick Settings panel, cross‑platform Quick Sharing and, for the first time, the ability to run Motorola’s Qira AI assistant on compatible handsets.
Qira, unveiled at CES 2026, unifies Moto AI, Lenovo AI Now, Creator Zone and Learning Zone into a single voice‑activated interface that shares memory and context across Motorola and Lenovo devices.
Motorola’s announcement says owners of the newly‑eligible Signature, Razr and Edge phones should see the Qira option appear after their devices complete the Android 17 update, accessible via the “Hey Qira” wake word, on‑screen entry points, or a dedicated AI key.
The expansion does not include the Moto G series, which is slated to receive Android 17 but, according to the press release, will not gain Qira support.
Motorola expects the broader Qira rollout to give users a seamless experience when moving tasks—such as note‑taking or file access—between a Motorola phone and a Lenovo tablet without re‑entering information.
