The conclave, titled “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem,” runs through Friday and is organized under a resolution of the apex council of NITs that tasked NIT‑K with sharing its policies and best practices with other institutes across the country.
Delegates – including Deans of Research, Associate Deans, heads of startup incubators and coordinators of Institute Innovation Councils – will identify challenges their campuses face in moving ideas from the laboratory to market, explore technology‑licensing hurdles and examine ways to strengthen incubation support.
A series of expert sessions will showcase successful models for creating a conducive ecosystem that guides projects through the pathway from idea to invention, innovation and societal impact.
Participants will also tour NIT‑K’s own innovation infrastructure, visiting the Centre for System Design, the IDEA Factory, the Central Research Facility, the Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Park and even the campus beach, to see how the institute integrates research facilities with entrepreneurial spaces.
Dean (Research & Innovation) B. Ramachandra Bhat, who recently assumed the role, said the gathering represents “more than 50 delegates from 30 NITs representing almost all the states of India,” and expressed confidence that the conclave will spark valuable insights and stronger inter‑NIT collaborations.
The event coincides with the inauguration of NIT‑K’s annual entrepreneurship festival, INCUBATE, scheduled for Friday. The festival will feature keynote talks, competitions and other activities over the weekend, offering delegates a glimpse of the institute’s broader startup‑support ecosystem.
