During a raid prompted by a complaint filed under Sections 8(c) read with 22(b)(ii)(c), 27(A) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, investigators arrested several suspects, including a man identified as Pallapu Raghu, and confiscated 50 kg of ganja valued at roughly ₹25 lakh together with three vehicles.
The police broadened the probe to trace the financial trail of the narcotics trade. By scrutinising registration certificates, purchase invoices and other documents, they identified two sport‑utility vehicles and a TVS Jupiter motorcycle – collectively valued at ₹25 lakh – as belonging to Raghu, his associates and relatives.
Having established that the seized movable assets were proceeds of drug trafficking, the investigators submitted their findings to the competent authority in Chennai. The authority confirmed the link and, invoking Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, ordered the forfeiture of the assets on September 22.
Section 68(F) empowers courts to confiscate property that is suspected to have been acquired through illicit drug activity, aiming to prevent traffickers from converting illegal gains into legitimate‑looking wealth. The forfeiture in this case underscores the state's intent to dismantle the financial foundations of drug networks in the region.
The seized assets are now in the custody of the authorities, and the legal proceedings against the accused continue. Officials said the action sends a clear deterrent signal to other criminal elements operating in Telangana.
