New customers can claim the half‑price deal by entering the promotional code CFD26 in the Santander Cycles app or on the website before the deadline, cutting the cost of a monthly pass to half its usual price.
The discount is presented as a measure to encourage more people to travel actively, which officials say will improve public health, ease road congestion and help clean the capital’s air.
TfL also announced that a new Santander Cycles app will be launched later this year, promising easier access to bike availability, docking‑station locations, unlocking, pass purchases and journey management.
Will Norman, the Mayor of London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, welcomed the offer, saying, “Cycling is a fantastic way to get around London – especially now that we’ve grown our Cycleways network five‑fold, helping people of all abilities to cycle safely across the capital. I’m delighted that TfL is making it even cheaper and easier for more Londoners to get on a bike.”
David Eddington, TfL’s Head of Cycle Hire, linked the promotion to World Car‑Free Day, noting, “World Car Free Day is a great opportunity to try a different way of travelling around London. By offering a 50 percent discount on a Santander Cycles Monthly Pass, we’re making it even easier for more people to experience the benefits of cycling.”
The initiative joins a broader strategy to expand the city’s Cycleways network and improve cycling infrastructure, aiming to make cycling a quicker, more convenient and affordable option for commuting, social visits and city exploration.
