The new season, titled “13,” marks the anthology’s thirteenth run. Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson return, each for a tenth season of the series. Jessica Lange also reappears for the first time since 2018, taking up four roles she played in earlier seasons.
Ryan Murphy directs the premiere, his first time directing an American Horror Story opening episode since “Hotel” in 2015. The new ensemble includes Paul Anthony Kelly, Alex Consani, Avantika, Madelaine Petsch, John Waters and Joey Pollari.
FX plans to air the first three episodes back-to-back on premiere night. The next installments are scheduled for October 1 and October 15, giving the season an unusually concentrated opening before its weekly run continues.
