The supplier, based at Zodiac Business Park in Cowley, Uxbridge, was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on 16 September. It had pleaded guilty to two offences under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on 14 July.
The employee was struck by a forklift, fell and hit the back of their head on the floor. The incident prompted an investigation by Hillingdon Council.
In setting the sentence, the judge took account of Mills Limited reporting the incident itself, cooperating with the investigation and introducing improvements in response to the notice. Councillor Adam Bennett said employers have a duty to protect employees and others affected by their activities, and that the council would act where serious failures are identified.
