Investigators allege that Kumar helped run betting panels, collect money and acquire property in Dubai using proceeds from gambling. The CBI said it seized material during a search after the arrest and alleged that Kumar worked closely with other accused, including Saurabh Chandrakar and Shubham Soni.
A court in Hyderabad granted the agency three days of transit remand. Kumar was then taken to Raipur, where a court authorised two days of police custody. Those orders allow investigators to question him; the allegations have not been determined at trial.
The case concerns the Mahadev Book platform, which the CBI says was promoted by absconding businessmen based in Chhattisgarh. The agency alleges the operation generated ₹80,000 crore in criminal proceeds since 2019. Chhattisgarh transferred 13 related FIRs to the CBI, which says it has filed eight charge sheets against 100 accused. It also says extradition steps are under way against two suspects, while the main promoters remain outside India.
