Deputy Sports and Tourism Minister Ireneusz Raś said in a Radio Wnet interview that an escalation of Russian aggression could create a situation in which parliamentary elections would not take place. He cited Poland's constitution but stressed that the scenario was hypothetical.
Raś said the possibility of further Russian escalation was being underestimated in Poland. He also said his party, Centre for Poland, planned to contest the 2027 parliamentary election independently. Political parties were talking, he said, but his party currently assumed it would create its own bloc.
The parties have agreed to meet in January to decide the direction and political arrangement for the election. Raś did not rule out a joint list involving the Left, the Polish People's Party and the Civic Coalition, while emphasising that such possibilities remained speculative.
He described the early mayoral election in Krakow as a political test ahead of the 2027 parliamentary vote. In his view, media coverage had turned it into a way to gauge how the local contest might affect the next national election.
