Germany’s Deutschlandticket to rise to €66.80 a month in 2027

Brandenburg Transport Minister Robert Crumbach called the €3.80 increase justifiable. The nationwide pass currently costs €63 and covers local and regional transport across Germany.

Germany’s nationwide Deutschlandticket will rise in price from €63 to €66.80 a month on 1 January 2027. Brandenburg Transport Minister Robert Crumbach called the increase justifiable and described the pass as still inexpensive, the dpa news agency reported.

Crumbach said federal and state governments had agreed on a procedure to calculate prices annually and keep increases within reasonable limits. He also cited rising energy costs, which affect the operation of buses and trams.

The ticket is a monthly subscription for local and regional buses and trains throughout Germany. It can be cancelled each month. Around 14.5 million people currently use it, according to the Association of German Transport Companies.

It cost €49 when it launched in 2023. The price rose to €58 in 2025 and €63 in 2026. Crumbach called it a major achievement while acknowledging that price increases affect passengers.
