Governor says 46 drones were downed over Russia’s Kaluga region

Vladislav Shapsha said the drones were intercepted over 16 municipal districts and the outskirts of Kaluga and Obninsk. He reported no casualties or infrastructure damage in preliminary information.

Air defences downed 46 drones over Russia’s Kaluga region during the evening of October 5 and overnight into October 6, Governor Vladislav Shapsha said. According to his preliminary information, there were no casualties or damage to infrastructure.

Shapsha listed 16 municipal districts where the drones were intercepted: Babyninsky, Baryatinsky, Borovsky, Dzerzhinsky, Duminichsky, Zhizdrinsky, Zhukovsky, Iznoskovsky, Lyudinovsky, Maloyaroslavetsky, Medynsky, Sukhinichsky, Tarussky, Ferzikovsky and Yukhnovsky. He also reported interceptions in Kuibyshevsky District and on the outskirts of Kaluga and Obninsk.

RIA Novosti carried the governor’s statement on October 6. Regional outlet Kaluzhskie Novosti also reported the figure. The published accounts did not provide independent data on the number of drones intercepted.
