Yegor Kovalchuk said air-defence units, mobile fire groups and National Guard special forces took part in the response.
Bryansk Region Governor Yegor Kovalchuk said 504 fixed-wing drones were downed over the region in the previous 24 hours. RIA Novosti reported his statement on October 6. Kovalchuk said the response involved Defence Ministry air-defence crews, mobile fire groups from the BARS-Bryansk brigade, a transport police unit and National Guard special forces.
Kovalchuk posted the claim on the Max social network. Interfax and regional media also reported the figure. In a separate statement, the governor said two people were injured in an attack on the settlement of Belaya Berezka. The report on the 504 drones did not say whether those injuries were connected with that incident.
The total is attributed to the regional governor. The published accounts did not include an independent assessment of the number.
