After the game, the Islanders had four points from four games and stood 10th in the Eastern Conference. The Blackhawks had two points from five games and were 14th in the West.
Both teams are scheduled to play again on October 11. The Islanders will face the Tampa Bay Lightning, while the Blackhawks take on the Carolina Hurricanes.
