A young man was wounded and detained during a raid in Jbata al-Khashab, a Syria Now correspondent reported. Al Jazeera also cited a Syrian monitoring center’s count of 39 detainees at the end of September.
Israeli forces detained a young Syrian man during a raid in Jbata al-Khashab in northern Quneitra province on Wednesday, a Syria Now correspondent reported. The correspondent said the man was shot before being detained.
The incident came hours after two other people detained in Quneitra city on Monday were released. Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israeli forces opened fire on them, saying they had approached a military position. Separately, Mohammed Dabbour was buried in the province on Monday after being killed by Israeli fire near Hamidiya village, according to the report.
The Sijil Center, which monitors violations in southern Syria, said 39 Syrians were being held in Israeli detention facilities at the end of September. It said they had been detained after Bashar al-Assad’s government fell on Dec. 8, 2024. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa told the UN General Assembly in September that since then Israel had carried out about 500 air and artillery strikes, more than 1,200 incursions and roughly 300 arrests or detentions of Syrians.
