Israeli security chiefs agree on election security steps ahead of October 27 vote

Eyal Zamir, Danny Levy and David Zini held a joint security assessment as Israel prepares for the October 27 election.

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Police Commissioner Danny Levy and Shin Bet chief David Zini held a joint, multi-front security assessment on Tuesday. The meeting was part of preparations for what officials described as a “sensitive period” in the weeks before the October 27 election.

A joint statement by the military, police and Shin Bet said the officials were briefed on intelligence along Israel’s borders and inside the country. They discussed strengthening multi-front defenses, combating terrorist groups and addressing nationalist crime.

The agency chiefs agreed on a series of steps drawing on each organization’s strengths to help ensure the election proceeds safely and normally. The statement did not specify operational measures or identify particular threats.
