Khulna ceremony honours students who earned top GPA-5 results

Organisers urged students to continue their education and use their skills for the benefit of society.

A ceremony honouring students who earned the top GPA-5 result was held on Oct. 3 in Khulna, southwestern Bangladesh. Prothom Alo and the local Bondhushava group organised the event at Khulna Zilla School with support from education platform Shikho.

Students arrived with family members, met former classmates and took photographs before the programme began. Some said they were glad to reconnect with school friends who had enrolled at other colleges and to meet new people.

Teachers and organisers urged students to trust their abilities and use their youthful energy for the public good. Speakers also said GPA-5 alone does not define a person’s achievement, while reading and engagement with the arts can broaden students’ outlook. Ten quiz winners received prizes.

Participants pledged to reject drugs, lies and rote memorisation. The cultural programme featured student performances of songs and poetry and concluded with singer Mithun Roy.
