The newspaper tested the clip-on model for a week, highlighting its open fit, adaptive volume and battery life. In Argentina, the headphones are listed at 429,999 pesos.
Argentina’s La Nación has published a review of Huawei’s FreeClip 2, open-ear headphones that rest around the outside of the ear. The newspaper says the design leaves users able to hear their surroundings and avoids the pressure of in-ear models. The earbuds are available in four colours and weigh 5.1 grams each.
The reviewer used them for a week, about two hours a day, and wrote that after an initial adjustment period they became easy to wear and almost unnoticeable. The device is water- and dust-resistant. Its charging case is 17% narrower and 14% lighter than the previous generation, the review says.
The headphones include an AI-powered neural processing unit and a dual-diaphragm driver. According to the manufacturer, the processor continually analyses ambient noise and adjusts frequencies and volume because the open design does not provide active noise cancellation. Three microphones and noise-filtering algorithms are used for calls. Controls include swipes and taps, as well as head gestures for accepting or rejecting calls.
Huawei lists battery life of up to nine hours on a full charge and up to 38 hours with the case. A 10-minute charge is said to provide as much as three hours of use. In Argentina, La Nación reports, the FreeClip 2 are sold through Claro and Huawei’s official Mercado Libre store for 429,999 pesos. The review says they work with Android, iOS, Windows and macOS.
